Nice one - so did you actually enter the onsen? Wonder how you managed time-wise if you did as the ride must have been pretty long, no?
I did another hike today, from Okutama over Otake ending the hike in an Onsen that we have never paid much attention to when riding out towards Kazahari.
Left home at 6:15 and got back at 14:15...only 8 hours in the saddle but almost 200km covered. No, as you can imagine these 8 hours did not include a bath! Just did a "preview" for some future time maybe. Faced strong wind from the North and I could feel the deep-rimmed wheels cutting through it; that was a mighty feeling!
The onsen by Kazahari is where I believe MOB stayed overnight once - in the early days - with the founding members of Positivo Espresso....
Impressive - so much for taking it easier this year...
It's not that onsen - didn't get close to that area. The one we visited is called 瀬音の湯.
