We visited the one I checked out last week(神水館). Snowy rain was falling so I had to abandon the original idea of cycling up there. Food was excellent and the interior of this ryokan very clean and full of early Showa nostalgia. The outside of the building, especially the side facing the Kanna river is extremely dilapidated though! This is not really an onsen as cold and very salty water is pumped up and then heated up. It is possible dip into a separate -the original - cold water bath which I tried and enjoyed very much (amazing how you get used to the cold to the point you no longer want to get out of it!). Apparently, the salt water comes from a huge bubble of seawater enclosed deep down in prehistoric earth/rock layers...

Which onsens did you visit? Looks like at least the weather was OK, unlike Tokyo...
